Two states. TWO EVENTS. Twice the value.

Join us for the first joint Florida & Alabama Brownfields Conference. Two states. TWO EVENTS. Twice the value. This is a unique opportunity to connect with brownfield leaders, visionaries, and stakeholders from two states. The event is being hosted by the Florida Brownfields Association (FBA) and the Alabama Brownfields Association (ALBFA).

IMPORTANT Update 9/16/2021

Due to concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 Delta Variant, the 2021 Florida & Alabama Brownfields Conference will be held as TWO EVENTS: a virtual conference in October 2021, and an in-person conference in April 2022 in Pensacola, FL.

Registration costs will remain the same, offering attendees an upgrade of TWO EVENTS for the price of one. Those who have already registered will be retroactively registered for both events.

Part 1: Virtual Conference

The virtual conference event will be held October 26-27, 2021. Building on the successes of FBA's and ALBFA's 2020 Virtual Conferences, Part 1 of the 2021 Florida & Alabama Brownfields Conference will be held online using the Sched platform. Attendees can login from anywhere and gain access to local brownfields experts and a full community of professionals from across the southeast.

Event organizers are currently finalizing the agenda, which is expected for release the week of September 20-24, 2021. Planners expect to include half-day sessions on October 26 & 27.

Part 2: In-Person Conference

The in-person conference event will be held on April 24-27, 2022 at the Hilton Pensacola Beach. This oceanfront resort sits along Florida's most beautiful beaches. Sugar white sand and emerald green waters will set the backdrop for our event. Additionally, the hotel is just 20 minutes to the renowned redevelopment successes in downtown Pensacola.

The agenda for the in-person conference will be announced closer to the event dates.

Changes In Plans

The joint Florida and Alabama conference was originally planned and announced in 2020, but because of COVID-19, we decided to hold separate virtual conferences in 2020, and postpone the joint conference until 2021. The 2021 Florida & Alabama Brownfields Conference will be the first joint Florida & Alabama brownfields conference.

The venue was changed from the historic Pensacola Grand Hotel to the Hilton Pensacola Beach. Following the Hurricane Sally, which hit Pensacola in September 2020, the Pensacola Grand Hotel closed for renovation.

COVID struck again in early September 2021, when concerns about the Delta variant caused event organizers to split the conference into TWO EVENTS: a virtual conference and an in-person conference.
