UPDATED: Annual Brownfields Conferences in 2020 & 2021 - Important Information

Despite the challenges of our current climate, brownfield cleanup and redevelopment, environmental justice, community engagement and revitalization, and equitable development are as timely and important as ever. We are committed to bringing you a provocative, engaging virtual brownfields conference in 2020. For 2020, we are also working with our partners with U.S. EPA Region IV to include the Region IV New Brownfield Grantee Workshop and broader Southeast Regional themes in the virtual 2020 conference.

The Florida Brownfields Association (FBA) is excited to announce the Call for Ideas for the annual 2020 Brownfields Conference hosted by FBA, to be held virtually in October 2020. Please send your proposals and ideas for virtual conference sessions and presentations to us by August 19, 2020 (6 PM EST). You can send proposals to [email protected].
During the 2020 virtual conference, we plan (i) to hold the U.S. EPA Region IV New Brownfield Grantee Workshop virtually in coordination with U.S. EPA as part of the conference and (ii) to serve as a platform for provocative sessions that showcase both Florida and Region IV Brownfields issues, initiatives, and efforts, in order for participants throughout Region IV to come together, participate, collaborate, and to share.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we asked and you provided valuable feedback about your wishes for the upcoming brownfields conferences in 2020 and 2021.  Based on the responses, we have decided not to hold an in-person 2020 conference.  So we are making some adjustments to the original approach and schedule to still bring relevant brownfield content to you.

We are announcing that the 2020 Florida Brownfields conference will be a virtual event. The Alabama Brownfields Association will also schedule their own 2020 virtual event.  For 2021, we will plan the first joint Florida & Alabama Brownfields Conference to be held in Pensacola, FL in October 2021.

Join us in 2021 for the first joint Florida & Alabama Brownfields Conference. Twice the size. Twice the value. Hosted at the historic Pensacola Grand Hotel, just a short walk to the renowned redevelopment successes in downtown Pensacola. This is a unique opportunity to connect with brownfield leaders, visionaries, and stakeholders from two states. The 2021 conference will be held at the historic Pensacola Grand Hotel, located on the site of the Louisville and Nashville passenger depot constructed in 1912, replacing the 1882 vintage L&N Union Station -- now preserved, redeveloped, and listed on the National Historic Registry.
